STEAM workshops for curious young people – Sunday, December 1, 2024

The STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) subject day organized in collaboration with Biosphaera and The Science Way at Palazzo Festari returns.

Eight workshops, lasting 40-45 minutes each, are repeated throughout the day (10 a.m.-11 a.m.-12 p.m.-2:30 p.m.-3:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m.-5:30 p.m.):

On Lalla’s Wings (ages 4 to 7)

Through an animated tale of a fairy tale using puppets, display cases with insects to observe with interactive games, the activity aims to make the fascinating and mysterious world of insects understandable to children by explaining the main characteristics.

The physics of air (ages 6-9)

You can’t see it but you can feel it, we feel its contact on our skin, we feel its weight on our shoulders, we use it in many industrial settings and …we breathe it! Air hides many physical properties that we will discover with simple but surprising experiments that will test our knowledge of this precious element.

Nature from A to Z (ages 6-10)

Biodiversity on our planet is in crisis and it is our duty to know about it in order to protect it! Through the letters of the alphabet it will be the participants themselves who will create the program of their own workshop, each time drawing one of them to which will correspond a fun game with which to learn about plants, animals and other living things that surround us.

Through the eyes of the paleontologist (ages 8-10)

We can learn about the history of our planet thanks to the animal and plant remains that have been preserved for thousands and millions of years within rock sediments.Let us also try to become paleontologists by touching real fossil remains become paleontologists by touching real fossil remains and creating a small fossil record ourselves to put on our bedside tables at home!

All the colors of coding! (9-10 years old)

Who said that you necessarily need a computer to do coding? Using Ozobot, a small robot that recognizes color sequences and interprets them as commands, children can approach basic coding concepts using markers, original puzzles and stickers to cut out.

A journey into microcosm (ages 9-13)

In the microworld that builds living matter, there is a universe of things to discover and observe. To do this we will use biological microscopes, which will allow us to observe animal and plant samples in their constituent elements: cells!

Statistically (11-14 years old)

Learn how data come to life and reveal secrets in our statistics laboratory. Between calculations, graphs and models, we will turn numbers into powerful tools for understanding and predicting the world around us. Join us to become a master of the art of data!

How is the creek? (11-14 years old)

How is the Agno stream? The animals that inhabit it tell us so! Through the analysis of macroinvertebrates, bioindicator aquatic animals, we can indeed assess the water quality of a stream. Microscopes and recognition cards in hand we will learn about these fascinating animals and assess the health of our home stream.
